COVID-19: new procedure for testing positive cases

On 16 July 2021, a ministerial decision was published in the Official Journal of Monaco amending the Ministerial Decision dated 11 November 2020 on carrying out and managing tests to detect the genome of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

This decision introduces changes to the procedure for the testing of positive cases, requiring that an RT-PCR test is now carried out in the following two situations:

  • In the event of a positive antigen test (whether the person is symptomatic or asymptomatic)
  • In the event of a negative antigen test (where the person is symptomatic)

It should be noted that this amendment will also enable the issue of a health pass in the event of a positive PCR test since, in accordance with Article 2 of the ministerial decision on the health pass, Monaco can only issue a certificate of recovery from infection on the basis of an RT-PCR test carried out in the Principality.
