COVID-19: health pass to stay in place beyond 30/11
Given the health situation, H.S.H. Prince Albert II has decided to extend and reinforce use of the health pass until 25 February 2022, in other words until the end of the February holidays. These decisions have been made on the basis of recommendations from the Prince’s Government developed in consultation with the National Council.
Use of health pass extended
Useof the health pass or any equivalent proof of vaccination status, negative test result or certificate of recovery will be mandatory for anyone wishing to access restaurant or bar terraces from 1 December. This requirement also extends to young people aged 16–18 years old.
Capacity threshold lowered
In a similar vein, the capacity threshold for premises open to the public that require a health pass or equivalent proof to be shown is being lowered from 1,000 to 300 people. This affects venues including the Opera House, Théâtre Princesse Grace and Grimaldi Forum spaces.
Health situation
These measures are being strengthened in light of the general deterioration of the health situation in Europe with the onset of winter, a period conducive to the spread of the virus.
In the Principality of Monaco, the number of infections, although fluctuating, has remained high for several weeks and has even increased in recent days.
This highlights the need to further improve vaccine coverage among residents of the Principality, particularly in the younger age groups. The Prince’s Government reiterates the importance of getting vaccinated to protect yourself and others. To beat the pandemic and enable life to return to normal, the vast majority of Monaco’s residents and those working in the country must be vaccinated.
Free testing
To avoid a potential resurgence of the epidemic, the Prince’s Government invites those who have travelled outside the Principality to get tested on their return.
Until 14 November, Monegasque nationals, residents, children attending school in the Principality and anyone who studies or works in the country can obtain a free COVID-19 PCR test without a prescription at the National Testing Centre in the Auditorium Rainier III.
Tests for adults will involve a nasopharyngeal sample, while those for children require a sample of saliva.
Those who would like to get tested or vaccinated can contact the COVID-19 Call Centre on +377 92.05.55.00, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week. You can also get in touch with the Centre using the designated form which is available here: https://vaccination-covid19.gouv.mc/
New measures may be introduced depending on how the health situation develops. The Government calls on everyone to act responsibly. Regular checks will continue to be carried out to ensure strict compliance with the current rules.
