Presentation of COVID-19 vaccination

Monaco has embarked on a crucial stage in tackling the pandemic: vaccination. Minister Didier Gamerdinger was keen to provide those working on the COVID-19 effort – general practitioners, doctors working for the Office of Occupational Medicine and those operating the National Vaccination Centre – with details on the commitment of the public authorities to organising the COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

The aim was to offer information and tools to help implement the Principality’s vaccine policy, including about the effectiveness and safety of the vaccines, as well as the impact the campaign will have on the spread of the disease. Vaccination is about reducing mortality and serious forms of the disease, restricting the circulation of the virus to protect healthcare capacity, and limiting the impact of the epidemic on the economy and society.

For Didier Gamerdinger: “Doctors and healthcare workers are critical. Patients listen and pay attention to what they have to say, thanks to the unique close relationship between them. The Prince’s Government is seeking to act quickly, flexibly and with agility, and we have all the advantages we need: strong commitment, organisational skills and a firm determination to move forward.”

With this in mind, a steering committee has been set up, comprising:

- Kristel Malgherini, Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs;

- Dr Jean-Michel Cucchi, President of the Council of the Ordre des médecins;

- Dr Olivia Keïta-Perse, Head of the Epidemiology and Hospital Hygiene Service at Princess Grace Hospital;

- The Department of Health Affairs (DASA).
