Covid-19: Measures from 31/05/21

Curfew from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

  • Exemption granted from curfew for professional, medical, family reasons or to let pets out briefly

Restaurants are open for lunch and dinner service, subject to certain conditions:

  • For lunch and dinner, the establishment may only host the following persons, who must provide appropriate proof:
  • Monegasque nationals or residents, and guests staying in hotels in Monaco.
  • Persons engaged in some form of professional activity in Monaco and members of their family sharing the same household.
  • Students and persons attending school in the Principality.
  • Casino players and club members.
  • Tables must be booked in advance, and there is a maximum of six diners per table.
  • Restaurant may now once again serve customers continuously between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
  • Evening service will be between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. Customers will be permitted to travel until 11.15 p.m. They will be required to carry an “attestation” or certificate with them, provided by the restaurant proprietor and proving that they dined at their establishment.
  • Home deliveries of food are permitted between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m.
  • Tables in restaurants must be spaced at least 1.5 m apart.
  • Music may be played within reason (no dancing), at a volume of no more than 74 dB.

Opening hours for bars and cafes are extended. On-site activities including bars, snack bars, refreshment stands, breakfast services, ice cream parlours and tea rooms or coffee houses are allowed between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m., provided customers are served at tables.

  • Access is permitted for:
  • Monegasque nationals or residents, and guests staying in hotels in Monaco.
  • Persons engaged in some form of professional activity in Monaco and members of their family sharing the same household.
  • Students and persons attending school in the Principality.
  • Casino players and club members.

 

  • Tables must be limited to no more than six people, and spaced at least 1.5 m apart.

Like restaurants, concert halls and casinos may once again open to the public until 11 p.m.

  • Concerts and conference venues may open at up to 70% of their usual seated capacity, with no more than 1,000 persons. Special dispensation may be granted subject to specific health protocols. 

 

Masks must be worn in all public spaces, and in enclosed or indoor spaces that are open to the public, as well as communal areas of private spaces.

  • Children aged under 5 are not required to wear masks. Similar, persons engaged in sporting activity outdoors are not required to wear masks, but must carry one in their pocket to be worn if needed.
  • It is strongly recommended to wear in private spaces, particularly if there is a non-member of the household or a vulnerable person present.
  • It is also strongly recommended to limit cigarette or coffee breaks or shared meals, and to avoid moving around in these situations.
  • On beaches, the requirement to wear a mask is lifted provided individuals who are not part of the same group remain at least 1.5 m apart.  Groups are more than six people are not permitted.

 

Indoor sports may be resumed, subject to strict health protocols:

  • Masks must be worn by those taking part and their coaches, hand sanitiser must be provided, and a booking system must be used in order to control the number of persons present.
  • At sports clubs, activity may resume subject to the protocols determined by the management and approved by the Department of Health Affairs.
  • For contact or combat sports, only training is permitted in preparation for the resumption of full activity  at a later date.
  • For water sports where a mask cannot be worn owing to the wet conditions, sailing and solo rowing are both permitted.
  • Private sports lessons with a coach are permitted (see conditions).
  • Outdoor sports are permitted (see conditions).
  • Professional clubs must continue to play behind closed doors.

In schools, outdoor sports resumed on Monday 26 April 2021 with strict protocols in place.

Indoor and outdoor swimming pools may re-open, subject to health protocols to be established with the Department of Health Affairs for each facility.

Jacuzzis, hammams and saunas remain closed.

 

Working from home remains mandatory in the private and public sector, up to and including 13 June 2021.

Teaching institutions are open, with over 5s required to wear masks.

Public services remain open.

Shops are open, but subject to a curfew and with a maximum capacity of one person per 4 m². 

Banks, worksites and businesses continue to operate.

Public venues are open, subject to the curfew (museums, exhibition venues, etc.).

Hotels are open.

Visits may be made to residential homes, with a temporary suspension on residents’ outings.

Religious sites are open, with a maximum capacity of one person per 6 m².

Funerals are permitted.

Public gatherings are limited to no more than 10 people.
