Monaco Santé: presentation of new functionality

Following the launch of the platform in 2020, S.A.S. le Prince Albert II attended a presentation of the new functionality offered by Monaco Santé. The presentation was also attended by Didier Gamerdinger, Minister of Health and Social Affairs, and Frédéric Genta, Country Chief Digital Officer, and was held at the Yacht Club de Monaco. The aim was to offer an initial review of the platform to an audience of numerous healthcare professionals and representatives from healthcare facilities.

The Monaco Santé platform is one of the foundation’s of Monaco’s e-health strategy, jointly led by the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs and the Digital Transition Office. It is one of the factors in the appeal of the Extended Monaco digital transformation programme, which for the last three years has been building the key infrastructure required to develop solutions that will optimise patient pathways and relationships with healthcare facilities and private healthcare providers.

Patients at the heart of the project

Designed to make life easier for Monegasque nationals, residents and visitors, providing better care and 24/7 availability in five languages (French, English, Italian, Spanish and Russian), the digital portal offers:

  • an online appointment booking system;
  • a directory of all healthcare professionals and healthcare facilities in the Principality;
  • the latest health news in the Principality;
  • archiving of personal data for users who create a personal account;
  • emergency numbers and details of on-call doctors and pharmacists, updated in real time;

Major new developments include the integration of teleconsultation and secure messaging between health professionals, which demonstrate the growing willingness of all stakeholders in the sector to use digital technology to create a more seamless “patient experience” while retaining the human connection.

For Didier Gamerdinger, “E-health in Monaco is about a shared goal: to continue to make Monaco a benchmark, and to do this smoothly and effectively with support from everyone, for our patients and their wellbeing. After all, that’s precisely what we are here for.”

For Frédéric Genta, “Monaco Santé is the foundation that the Principality needed to build the future of e-health, starting today. It is also a strong indicator of quality of life and attractiveness for our country.”

In his speech, S.A.S le Prince Albert II thanked all of the key stakeholders in the Principality who got involved in this project in a context where the goal of e-health is to anticipate, prevent and treat. A health system which must be able to rely on effective digital tools that serve patients and healthcare professionals alike.

The portal is available online at https://www.monacosante.mc/ or on tablets and smartphones using the mobile app that can be downloaded for iOS or Android.
