On Thursday 6 May, Didier Gamerdinger, Minister of Health and Social Affairs, visited the site where the future Psychiatry Day Care Centre for Children and Young People is being constructed. He was accompanied by Romain Alexandre, Departmental Representative for the PACA Regional Health Agency, Arnaud Pouillart, Executive Director of the Fondation Lenval, Ludmilla Raconnat Le Goff, Director General of the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, and Alain Laurent, Deputy Director of Public Works.
Children and young people who are resident or who attend school in the Principality of Monaco and who are experiencing psychological distress are currently treated at the Centre Plati and may be monitored in outpatient facilities in France, when places become available.
Given the overcrowding in facilities in the Alpes-Maritimes department, the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, the Fondation Lenval and the PACA Regional Health Agency decided to join forces to create a shared facility with a capacity of 35 places, including 17 for Monaco, in Beausoleil.
Work began in June 2020, with opening planned to coincide with the start of the school year in September 2022.
“Mental health is a priority for the Prince’s Government, which attaches the highest importance to procuring the resources required to implement its health policy, particularly for children. This project illustrates the close links between the Principality of Monaco and France.”
