Anyone aged over 60 who is habitually resident in the Principality or in a care home operated by the CHPG geriatric care department, and has suffered a loss of autonomy due to their physical or mental condition may apply for the autonomy allowance.
A patient contribution is calculated on the basis of income. This determines the amount of the autonomy allowance for full or partial coverage of either a home help package or nursing care costs, up to the ceilings set out by ministerial decree according to the level of autonomy (G.I.R. scale) and a maximum hourly rate.
Support for daily living expenses and coverage of the cost of equipment and consumables may also be granted to beneficiaries of this allowance.
The allowance is paid monthly, to the beneficiary or to the care home, covering between 10% and 100% of costs subject to the established ceilings and the patient contribution.
Applicable legislation:
- Act No. 1.465 dated 11/12/2018 on family benefits and social welfare in Monaco
- Ordinance No. 904, dated 08/01/2007, on creation of the autonomy allowance
- Ministerial Decree No. 2018-1018, dated 30 October 2018, implementing Sovereign Ordinance No. 904, dated 8 January 2007, on creation of the autonomy allowance, as amended
