A psychiatric day care facility for children and adolescents
Monaco and France open a psychiatric day care facility for children and adolescents. The establishment, for children and adolescents suffering from psychiatric disorders, will open in September 2023 in Beausoleil (Alpes-Maritimes).
On Friday 23 June, the Principality’s Minister of State Pierre Dartout and François Braun, the French Minister of Health and Prevention signed the Administrative Arrangement for the Franco-Monagasque psychiatric day care facility for children and adolescents.
The agreement, signed in the presence of Christophe Robino, Minister of Health and Social Affairs, and Laurent Stefanini, France’s Ambassador to the Principality, formalises the opening in Beausoleil in September 2023 of a day care facility for children and adolescents diagnosed with psychiatric disorders.
In October 2018, in response to the saturation of specialised establishments in the Principality (Centre Plati) and the Alpes-Maritimes department, the Monagasque Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, together with the PACA Regional Health Agency and the Lenval Foundation decided to launch a partnership to create a shared facility.
A 650 square-metre property was acquired by the Principality of Monaco in the municipality of Beausoleil, with work to fit out the facility co-financed by the partners.
Starting in September 2023, the care centre will offer comprehensive outpatient care primarily to children and adolescents up to 18 years of age diagnosed with a psychiatric or behavioural disorder that prevents them from attending school full-time in any capacity.
The facility will offer 35 spots, 17 of which are reserved for children who live or attend school or college in the Principality, thus meeting the needs of children and adolescents in the eastern Alpes-Maritimes department and Monaco.
This unprecedented project is proof of the active and effective health cooperation between France and Monaco in the sole interest of patients.
